Ownership and Management

1. Journal Ownership and Publisher

JDEP (Jurnal Dinamika Ekonomi Pembangunan) is an institutional scholarly journal owned and published by Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur, Indonesia. The journal is managed by the Department of Development Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business.

JDEP provides a peer-reviewed, open-access platform for research in development economics and related fields. It publishes articles in English and Indonesian.

The university, as the institutional publisher, supports the journal’s administration, publishing infrastructure, continuity, and development. Institutional ownership of the journal is distinct from copyright ownership of individual articles.

2. Institutional and Administrative Management

The Department of Development Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, coordinates the journal’s institutional and administrative management.

Administrative responsibilities include:

  • Supporting publication activities and maintaining editorial records.

  • Coordinating the operation and maintenance of the electronic publishing platform.

  • Facilitating communication between the publisher and editorial team.

  • Supporting access to published content and the continuity of publication.

  • Facilitating improvements to publishing standards and journal services.

Institutional oversight concerns organisational and administrative matters. It must not improperly influence the scientific assessment of individual manuscripts.

3. Editorial Management and Responsibilities

JDEP’s editorial management is led by the Editor-in-Chief, supported by the Editorial Board, assistant editors, reviewers, and editorial staff.

The Editor-in-Chief oversees the journal’s academic direction, editorial standards, and consistent application of its policies.

The editorial team is responsible for:

  • Assessing submissions for relevance, originality, methodological quality, and scholarly contribution.

  • Selecting appropriately qualified reviewers and managing peer review.

  • Making and communicating editorial decisions.

  • Protecting confidential manuscript and review information.

  • Addressing conflicts of interest, ethical concerns, complaints, and appeals.

  • Assessing requests for corrections and other post-publication action.

The current editorial team and institutional affiliations are available on the Editorial Team page.

4. Peer Review and Editorial Independence

JDEP uses double-blind peer review involving at least two reviewers per manuscript that proceeds to external review.

Submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment. Submissions that do not meet the journal’s scope, quality requirements, or submission policies may be declined without external review.

Reviewers provide recommendations to support editorial assessment. The responsible editor makes the final publication decision in accordance with the journal’s procedures.

The publisher respects the academic independence of the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board. Institutional authorities, funders, sponsors, and other stakeholders must not improperly influence reviewer selection, review recommendations, or acceptance and rejection decisions.

Manuscripts are evaluated on scholarly merit without discrimination based on authors’ nationality, institutional affiliation, academic position, gender, religion, or other personal characteristics unrelated to the research.

5. Publication Ethics and Accountability

The publisher and editorial team share responsibility for maintaining transparent procedures and protecting the integrity of the scholarly record.

Authors, editors, reviewers, and staff must disclose interests that could compromise their responsibilities or professional judgment.

Editors with a relevant conflict must withdraw from handling the manuscript. Submissions authored by editors, Editorial Board members, or individuals affiliated with the publisher must receive independent editorial handling and meet the same standards as other submissions.

Special issues remain subject to the journal’s editorial oversight and ethical requirements.

Research misconduct allegations, complaints, appeals, and post-publication concerns are handled under JDEP’s Publication Ethics and related policies. Persons directly implicated in a complaint must not be its sole assessors.

6. Financial Management and Publishing Support

JDEP’s publishing activities are administered through its institutional management arrangements. Information about author charges is provided separately on the journal website.

Any applicable submission, processing, publication, or other author charges must be disclosed before authors incur the relevant obligation. Changes to charges must be communicated clearly.

Payment does not guarantee acceptance. Financial contributions, institutional support, and any fee waiver arrangements must not influence peer review or editorial decisions.

Details of applicable charges are available on the Article Publication Fee page.

7. Copyright and Open Access

Authors retain copyright to their articles and grant JDEP the right of first publication.

Published articles are freely available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0). Reuse must comply with the licence, including appropriate attribution and identification of changes.

Authors remain responsible for securing any necessary permissions for third-party materials. Such materials may be subject to separate rights or licence conditions.

The views, findings, interpretations, and conclusions expressed in published articles are those of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of the university, the Faculty of Economics and Business, or the editorial team.
