Plagiarism and AI Policy
1. Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original. Ideas, words, data, tables, and figures taken from other sources must be appropriately acknowledged. Direct quotations must be clearly identified and cited.
Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously is prohibited. Authors must disclose related publications and explain any overlap with previously published work.
JDEP (Jurnal Dinamika Ekonomi Pembangunan) screens submissions using Turnitin, with a maximum similarity threshold of 20%. A similarity score below this threshold does not automatically establish originality or guarantee acceptance. Editors assess the sources, extent, and context of textual overlap. Manuscripts containing plagiarism may be rejected regardless of their overall similarity score.
2. Artificial Intelligence Policy
JDEP’s AI policy draws on Emerald Publishing’s publication ethics guidance and distinguishes between generating new manuscript content and editing an author’s existing work.
Permitted Use
Authors may use generative AI to improve the language, grammar, readability, or formatting of their existing original text, or to translate that text. Authors must verify that the changes preserve their intended meaning and do not introduce inaccurate information.
Prohibited Use
Generative AI must not be used to write new manuscript content, including abstracts, literature reviews, interpretations, or conclusions. It must not fabricate research data, results, references, or supporting evidence. AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
Disclosure and Responsibility
Authors must disclose permitted generative AI use in a Declaration of AI Use by adding a statement at the end of the manuscript when the paper is first submitted, identifying the tool, version where available, purpose, and affected sections. Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the manuscript. Disclosure does not make prohibited use acceptable.
An example:
Statement: During the preparation of this work the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL / SERVICE] in order to [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the published article.
The declaration does not apply to the use of basic tools, such as tools used to check grammar, spelling, and references. If you have nothing to disclose, you do not need to add a statement.
Confidentiality and Peer Review
Editors and reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts to generative AI services or delegate scholarly evaluation or editorial decisions to them.
Assessment of Concerns
Suspected violations will be assessed using relevant evidence and the authors’ explanation. An AI detection score alone is insufficient to establish misconduct.
